We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011, we performed the first-ever crewed flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopters (www.volocopter.com).

Your mission during this flight:

You are a master student interested and knowledgeable about control theory, ideally in the area of flight controls and have some experience in software development. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will support the improvement and tuning of our control laws for Heavy Lift Utility Drones which will make a breakthrough in the transportation industry – the VoloDrones.

As a Working Student in the Flight Control Team you will support the development of new control laws and associated software. You will help with the design, implementation and testing of control strategies and directly report to one of our Flight Control Experts.

• Assist with the development and implementation of software and algorithms for the VoloDrone flight control systems
• Be part of the ongoing improvement of our simulation models (SiL/HiL) and support the testing of new control laws
• Be part of ongoing flight testing and analyze real flight data

Check in your professional skills:

• BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics or related field
• Knowledge of control theory, ideally in the field of flight controls and multi-rotor UAVs
• Experience with Matlab, ideally including Simulink and model-based design
• Excellent software development skills in C/C++ and in a scripting language (Matlab, Python, …)
• Highly effective in collaborating and communicating with others (fluent in English, German is a plus)
• Structured way of working, high sense of responsibility and accountability

Preferred skills:

• Preferably experience with UAVs, Embedded Systems and RTOS
