Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). Your mission during this flight:

The purpose of this hybrid role is to organize and perform all testing activities regarding battery and battery management system (BMS) testing. This includes tests during development phase and qualification testing for type certification of the final product.

You will play a vital part in designing a safe wholistic battery and BMS by performing development & qualification tests. You will own the testing process end-to-end. This includes the preparation including process planing, documentation preparation, test hardware planing and creation, the scheduling of tests, building test setups, test conduction, test documentation and other tasks like cooperation with development on root cause analysis.
Tests include, for example, HIL testing, HIL automation, thermal runaway, short circuit, vibration and other environmental and special test requests. This might also include tests on components or materials for the battery and BMS, like housing materials, new fuses engineering versions of the BMS software an dother intermediate products within or for our battery.
You will identify and develop tests that allow understanding component and system behavior with a focus on battery cells and battery pack.

Your Tasks: 

• Contribute on test plan creation and scheduling
• Clarify the test requirements
• Prepare test campaign documents
• Develop and maintain test setups
• Supervise and support test execution with external suppliers as well as executing tests yourself
• Review & analyze test results and create conclusive reports
• Perform Test Reviews (TRRs)
   

Check in your professional skills:

• B.Sc./Eng. or M.Sc./Eng. in areas of Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
• You have 5+ of experience in the testing of Batteries or similar products in a technical environment (e.g. Environmental Testing, Abuse Testing, Vibration, HIL Test Setups, for electrical propulsion systems and/or components)
• You are able to define and build test systems and setups
• You have technical knowledge in Battery Development and/or Test for High Current applications or similar products
• You have knowledge in HIL and SW Tools for automotive or aviation testing and logging (i.e. LabCar, dSpace, Simulink, CANoe, PCAN, …)
• You have acquired excellent written and spoken English language skills

Preferred skills: 

• Experience in aviation industry & regulation
• You have knowledge about automotive standards like ECE R100, ISO 26262 or aviation Standards like DO160G and DO311A or comparable standards from other industries
• High Voltage training 2E according to DGUV-I 209-093 or comparable
• You have worked in V-Cycle and AGILE / SCRUM environments and have an awareness of the methodologies and used tools (e.g. JIRA)
• You have worked with PLM tools like Siemens Team Center or similar
• Experience in EASA approved Design organizations [Part-21J] and understanding of the certification process for aviation is preferred
